Spring 2005, Bishop McNamara Theatre applied to be a host school for an Australian theatre touring company (the Children's Performing Company of Australia) and we were honored to be chosen. Fall 2006, we hosted 57 Australian students, ages 10 to 19. The company performed the show they are touring , "The Silver Donkey," for the student body during the school day and then again for families and friends in the evening. The students were hosted by McNamara families who fed them and brought them to and from school everyday. This was a wonderful opportunity to learn about a different culture and to share an interest in theatre with students from the other side of the world. The entire school was enriched by the performances and by the day the Australian students spent in our school attending classes. Host families were enriched by new friendships and understanding. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a successful venture.
